About the role
We are currently seeking an Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be a detail oriented, motivated self-starter that is able to thrive and enjoy working in a challenging and fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in accounting and will work closely with the Director of Finance and Corporate Controller. This position is remote and open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for day-to-day financial operations which include and not limited to
billing customers according to contractual guidelines including rate calculations and discounting, owning the procure-to-pay process by setting up bills and pay runs using our payment system (Float) and maintaining an accurate accounts payable register - Assist with full cycle bookkeeping, notably bank reconciliation, prepaids, depreciation, sales taxes and other non-complex financial statement lines
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams,
including sales, professional services, to gather financial data, resolve issues, and
implement process improvements - Assist in the preparation of our annual financial statements and accompanying notes in accordance with IFRS
- Research technical accounting guidance and prepare IFRS memos for quarterly closures and annual audits
- Assist in overseeing expense tracking, budgeting, and forecasting across departments
- Comply with regulatory reporting requirements and tax filings
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and streamline financial processes
and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Identify opportunities for
automation and implement solutions to eliminate manual work and reduce
errors - Responsible for developing and executing new processes and controls as the
business grows/evolves - Prepare reports and financial analysis on an as-needed basis
- Ability to multitask and work quickly while being able to adapt to a rapidly
evolving environment - Has an uncanny ability to get things done
- Salary range for the job is $75K - $90K based on experience and location.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Finance
- At least 3 years of experience in accounting
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Quickbooks and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced setting while maintaining accuracy and delivery against deadlines
- CPA designation or progress towards it
