Who You Are
You are responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the security systems that protect Cardata’s data. You will work closely with the Engineering stakeholders to identify security risks and establish practices that will mitigate those risks. You will develop incident response plans and procedures and ensure the organization is trained and aware of security risks.
What You'll Be Doing
- Focus on regular day to day management of our databases and make recommendations for improvements and efficiencies
- Responsible for the database design and participates in architecture/design reviews
- Perform the capacity planning to build and maintain the databases.
- Plan and implement backup and recovery of the databases.
- Perform database improvements as the need arises to assist performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database.
- Develop and implement security policies and procedures to protect Cardata’s data assets
- Collaborate with Engineering stakeholders to identify security risks and establish practices to mitigate those risks
- Set up and maintain test environments for manual and automated testing
- Plan and perform ongoing routine application maintenance tasks.
- Own incident management and root cause analysis to prevent future incidents
- Participate in on-call rotations for monitoring and alerting
What You'll Bring
- 3-5 years of experience in Database Engineering
- Strong understanding of cloud technologies such as AWS
- Strong understanding of database technologies such as MySQL, MariaDB, RDS, MongoDB
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes & Linux Systems
- Strong focus on security best practices including data protection and threat management
- Problem solving mindset and attention to detail
- Able to make decisions quickly and independently
- A thought leader able to guide a team on best practices
- Project management experience
- A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent work experience
