Purpose Driven Position
The Director of People and Culture is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the company’s human resources function, ensuring alignment with business goals and fostering a high-performance, human-centred and engaged workforce. This role oversees HR operations while playing a key role in executing the company’s people and culture strategy. The Director partners with managerial leaders across the business to coach and implement best-in-class HR programs, and initiatives that support talent acquisition, employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, and a culture of inclusion and growth.
The Director is a hands-on leader who ensures operational excellence across all aspects of HR, including compliance, workforce planning, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and HR technology. They are a strategic problem solver who balances people-centric approaches with business objectives, driving continuous improvement and organizational success.
What you'll need to succeed
- Passion for sustainability and a strong commitment to CarbonCure’s mission of reducing carbon emissions in the concrete industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certification (CHRP, CHRL, SHRM) preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
- Proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies that drive business outcomes.
- Strong understanding of HR operations, including employment law, workforce planning, talent management, compensation and benefits, and HR systems.
- Demonstrated success in leading human-centred organizational change and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Experience using HR metrics, analytics, and technology to inform decisions and improve efficiency.
What you'll be doing
People & Culture Strategy Execution
- Support the business in executing the company’s overall people and culture strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Act as a strategic advisor to managerial leaders on people-related matters, fostering a human-centric culture of high performance, collaboration, and engagement in a remote organization.
- Champion initiatives that enhance employee experience, organizational effectiveness, and workforce productivity.
- Lead HR-related change management initiatives to support business transformation and growth.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Oversee HR operations, ensuring efficient and effective processes across talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, HR systems, compensation, and benefits.
- Ensure compliance with all employment laws, regulations, and company policies, mitigating risk and maintaining ethical HR practices.
- Develop and monitor HR metrics and analytics to inform decision-making and measure success.
- Optimize HR technology and systems to enhance efficiency, data accuracy, and user experience.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Partner with business leaders to develop and execute workforce planning strategies that align with business goals.
- Oversee talent acquisition processes, ensuring the company attracts and hires top talent.
- Enhance employer branding initiatives to position the company as a sector leader in climate tech.
- Lead succession and career pathing efforts to develop internal talent.
Employee Development & Engagement
- Implement learning and development programs that support career growth, leadership development, and skills enhancement.
- Foster an inclusive and engaging workplace culture through employee engagement programs, recognition initiatives, and feedback mechanisms.
- Drive performance management processes that align individual and team performance with business objectives.
- Lead diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives that enhance representation and belonging.
Compensation, Benefits & Individual Well-Being
- Oversee compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitive and equitable practices that attract and retain top talent.
- Develop and implement employee well-being initiatives that support work-life balance, mental health, and overall wellness.
- Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to ensure the company remains competitive in total rewards offerings.
