Engineering Manager, Platform Engineering
Brim Financial
Brim Financial is a category defining fintech, building the operating system for credit cards and payments. Our platform powers card programs for banks, credit unions, fintechs, and global brands across North America. We are backed by EDC Growth Equity, Epic Ventures, Vistara Growth, and Impression Ventures and have been recognized as a CB Insights Fintech 100 company and Deloitte Fast 50 and Deloitte Fast 500 winner.
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our platform team. This is a role for someone who is both a strong people leader and a technically grounded engineer — someone who can set direction for a team building real-time financial infrastructure while helping individual engineers grow in their careers.
What You'll Do
- Lead and develop a team of engineers, setting clear goals and running structured development conversations that help people reach their next level
- Identify skill gaps across the team - particularly around AI tooling and version control discipline - and build targeted development plans to close them
- Own delivery and velocity outcomes for your team's projects - identifying bottlenecks early and keeping execution tight
- Collaborate with product and cross-functional stakeholders to define and prioritize deliverables with a keen eye on feature velocity
- Help establish engineering standards for CI/CD practices and development workflows that scale with team growth
- Foster a culture of full-stack thinking - where engineers understand the business domain and take ownership of problems end-to-end, not just their corner of the codebase
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years leading a team with direct reports
- Strong full-stack fundamentals, with the ability to spot architectural risk and guide technical decisions across the entire stack
- Experience building and scaling distributed systems, APIs, or platform services
- Demonstrated experience managing engineers through growth, performance challenges, and organizational change
- Comfort with remote-first, sync and async daily collaboration with fluid times
- Strong written communication - you lead through clear documentation and well-structured proposals
- The ability to stay technical enough to guide architecture and provide leadership and mentoring on code. while staying zoomed out enough to manage people, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously
- Experience in fintech, payments, or credit card infrastructure
- Familiarity with MySQL optimization, multi-tenant platform architecture, or real-time transaction processing
- Experience in adopting and using AI-assisted development tools for engineering teams
- Background in regulated environments (PCI DSS, financial compliance)
- Experience leading remote-first teams
- Competitive compensation and equity
- Remote-first workplace
- Comprehensive health plan and PTO
- A team that treats AI as a force multiplier, not a threat
- Real influence over engineering culture and team development at a growing fintech
- A seat at the table in shaping how the engineering organization scales
- Remote (US/Canada) | Full-Time
- Reason for vacancy: New vacancy
