As we continue to thrive, I am assembling an entrepreneurial Finance team that will contribute to Boxhub's ongoing success. I'm thrilled to announce that we are currently seeking a Senior Finance Associate to join our small team in the initial stages. In this role, you will be a versatile professional responsible for overseeing our US accounting and tax operations. Additionally, you will streamline crucial finance and reporting workflows, ensuring enhanced reporting quality for our key stakeholders. Given the prominence of this position, you will have a prominent presence, reporting directly to me and collaborating closely with other functional leaders.
*Please note that this is 9-12 month Full-time Contract role with the possibility of extension.

Shipping containers are becoming the most sustainable and cheapest solution for many storage and building projects. We believe that giving our customers better access to containers, while improving the inherently broken supply chain, we can generate a substantial positive impact and help save thousands of tons of CO2 per year.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable & Bookkeeping (40%):
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and receipts when applicable.
  • Code and enter invoices into the accounting system.
  • Vendor onboarding & maintenance.
  • Schedule and prepare disbursements (checks, electronic payments) for invoices.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain good relationships with suppliers.
  • Accounts Receivable (30%):
  • Generate and send B2B customer invoices in a timely manner.
  • Track and record incoming payments from customers in the accounting system.
  • Contact customers regarding overdue payments and negotiate payment plans when necessary.
  • Provide detailed statements and support to customers with questions about their accounts.
  • Managing receivables aging and bank reconciliation reports.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes by ensuring receivable accounts are accurate and up to date.
  • Other (30%):
  • Managing order upgrades, refunds and cancellations.
  • Leading weekly and monthly reconciliation of sales transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Conducting weekly cash reconciliations to maintain financial integrity.
  • Reviewing sales tax calculations, refunds, and handling customer tax exemptions in Avalara.
  • Calculating and processing commissions for the Sales and Operations teams to ensure accurate and timely processing and payment.
  • Assisting VP of Finance and other teams with ad hoc duties.

What you bring to the table:

  • Strong proven experience (ideally 3+ years) in accounts payable, receivable and corporate collections.
  • Experience in a high volume transactional environment.
  • Working knowledge of payment platforms such as Bill.com, Braintree, Stripe, Ramp, and a keen interest in learning about new online platforms to streamline Finance workflows.
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms such as BigCommerce.
  • You enjoy working with numbers and have excellent spreadsheet skills (Google Sheets, Excel).
  • Working knowledge of Quickbooks Online or similar bookkeeping platforms.
  • Understanding of Avalara or similar automated sales tax platforms.
  • You are someone who is highly organized and displays high levels of accuracy with attention to detail, & time management.
  • You demonstrate excellent communication skills and an ability to explain complex ideas with simplicity when dealing with cross-departmental communication.
