Full-time
At BioRender, we’re on a mission to accelerate the world’s ability to learn, discover, and communicate science — transforming how knowledge is shared and making science open, collaborative, and easily understandable by all.
We’re shaping the future of science communication and are looking for talented individuals to help bring this vision to life! 🚀
About the Role
We’re looking for an AI Automation Engineer to embed within teams and turn ideas into action — rapidly prototyping, testing, and scaling AI-powered workflows that unlock efficiency across BioRender. This role is about freeing people to do higher-order work by letting AI handle the busywork. You’ll collaborate closely with GTM, Customer Success, and internal business teams to identify bottlenecks, ship practical solutions, and drive measurable business impact. This is a new role in a new area, so you will also be building the playbook and the function alongside BioRender’s Chief Business Officer.
What you’ll be doing
- Partner with teams across Sales, Marketing, CS, People, and Finance to spot high-value processes ripe for automation
- Rapidly prototype AI workflows and automations using tools like N8N, Crew.ai, Vercel, LLM APIs, and agent frameworks
- Embed with teams for short sprints (2–4 weeks) to observe workflows, redesign processes, and ensure seamless adoption
- Scale prototypes into durable, reliable internal tools with error handling, observability, and documentation
- Debug and refine automations — adjusting prompts, integrations, and logic when systems fail
- Enable others by building playbooks, hosting workshops, and training team leads on how to safely and effectively use AI
What you bring to the table
- High agency and builder mindset: thrive in ambiguity, spot opportunities, and move fast from idea to prototype
- Proven ability to rapidly build and test in either no-code platforms (e.g. N8N, Zapier) or coding environments
- Experience with LLM orchestration (e.g. Crew.ai, LangChain, Claude, OpenAI Assistants) and advanced prompt engineering
- Strong debugging instincts — comfortable investigating errors, refining logic, and designing resilient systems
- Cross-functional fluency: able to work side by side with GTM, recruiting, and scientific teams, translating their workflows into AI solutions
- A teaching mindset: create clear documentation, run workshops, and evangelize best practices to enable company-wide adoption
Candidates may come from a range of backgrounds, including:
- Software engineering (especially those who’ve built internal tools for GTM or scientific teams)
- No-code operations or tech-savvy program managers (power users of N8N, Claude Code, Crew.ai, etc.)
- Startup generalists with strong automation instincts and a bias for building
Why join us?
- We are mission-driven: we work collaboratively towards our shared vision of improving scientific communication and accelerating scientific discovery. BioRender figures have appeared in more than 54,000 publications!
- BioRender is loved by millions! We have a world-class NPS and a community of loyal fans and users in 200+ countries!
- Our company is backed by top investors and accelerators like Y Combinator, and we are on a growth trajectory comparable to many top-performing SaaS companies
- We’re remote-first with team members across Canada and the U.S., offering you the flexibility to work from anywhere.
