Benevity is seeking a Tax Analyst to join our growing Tax team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, International Tax and Treasury, you will play a key role in enhancing our tax compliance, reporting, and research functions. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with various teams and make a significant contribution to our company’s success.

What you’ll do:

Tax Compliance:

  • Prepare multinational corporate tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate compliance filings for Canada, US, and Europe.
  • Execute transfer pricing methodology, including calculations and monthly reporting.
  • Support charitable foundation groups with tax compliance, reporting, and ad hoc tax advice.
  • Prepare and file monthly Canadian and international sales tax returns, and oversee the preparation of US sales tax returns in partnership with Avalara.

Tax Reporting:

  • Prepare the consolidated tax provision in accordance with ASC 740 US GAAP.
  • Collaborate with Treasury, General Accounting, and Financial Reporting teams to ensure the accuracy of tax provisions and deferred tax liabilities in financial statements.
  • Assist with corporate reporting as needed.

Tax Research:

  • Research tax issues affecting compliance, reporting, and planning.
  • Assist in developing and delivering training programs and information sessions for key business groups.
  • Stay updated on new and proposed legislation in Canada and international jurisdictions.
  • Respond to tax queries and support internal operations and finance teams.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with Finance, Legal, Operations, and other key groups to support initiatives with tax expertise.
  • Assist with various tax-related matters and special projects as needed.

What you’ll bring:

  • Results-oriented with a can-do attitude, showcasing adaptability, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
  • Collaborative problem solver who takes ownership and drives issues to resolution.
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in Excel, Netsuite, CCH iFirm/TaxPrep, and CanTax FormMaster.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • CPA or equivalent professional designation.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive corporate tax preparation and provisioning experience in a Canadian or multinational setting.
  • Experience in public accounting or with a multinational enterprise.
  • Enrolled in or willing to enroll in the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP.
  • Familiarity with sales taxes and Avalara (an asset).
