Our Operations team is seeking a Financial Operations Specialist to join us in the Calgary office. As we grow rapidly, we need a motivated self-starter with excellent teamwork skills and the flexibility to contribute where needed.

As Benevity’s Financial Operations Specialist, you will manage and implement customer payment activities, including receiving, processing, and applying payments to customer accounts. You will also identify opportunities for process improvement, support workflows, address payment gaps, and cater to unique client requirements using our current products.

Your primary responsibility will be supporting the Oracle A/R team under Managed Services on behalf of our foundation partners. Additionally, you will assist with various client requests related to A/R operations, special projects, and daily activities, demonstrating strong attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage and implement all customer payment activities, including receiving, processing, and applying payments to accounts
  • Optimize financial transactions and systems by reconciling payments and customer accounts
  • Communicate discrepancies to management, identify slow-paying customers, and recommend collection candidates
  • Strengthen client relationships by discussing past-due accounts with customers
  • Streamline the accounts receivable process by identifying areas for improvement
  • Maintain up-to-date accounts receivable records, ensuring credits and collections are applied, uncollectible amounts are accounted for, and discrepancies are adjusted
  • Monitor and collect accounts receivable by contacting clients via phone and email
  • Prepare analytical and ratio analyses to provide management with insights into collection efforts
  • Document processes and create/update comprehensive job aids for Financial Operations Oracle processes
  • Communicate key issues with leaders across functional areas and participate in resolution efforts
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement with a focus on enhancing the client experience

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education
  • Results-oriented, resourceful, and proactive
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Skilled at resolving diverse issues with an analytical mindset
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment
  • Resilient, thrives in a fast-paced, multitasking environment, and can adjust priorities on-the-fly
  • Client-focused, capable of working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient in Google and MS Office suite, with advanced Excel skills
  • Experienced with accounting ERP systems, such as Oracle Cloud
  • Team-oriented with a fun spirit and sense of humor
  • Excellent organizational skills, managing deliverables to meet quality standards and deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, able to communicate results to non-technical audiences
