Barley is a venture-backed startup focused on building solutions for a vast array of compensation challenges (from managing salary bands to conducting pay equity analysis). With Barley’s Compensation Management platform, our goal is to empower organizations to make better pay decisions.
Hybrid Across Two Hiring Hubs: Barley is a remote-first company that supports a flexible approach to work. Our team is co-located across two hiring hubs (Toronto and Vancouver and up to 200kms away from either). While we all predominately work remotely (i.e. work from home), we offer dedicated offices in both Toronto and Vancouver so that our team can collaborate and come together in-person, as desired.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own all elements of marketing from establishing the strategy to execution at Barley. You’ll establish the strategy, evolve our processes, manage the budget, and drive day-to-day execution
  • You’ll have broad ownership of the marketing function, but you’ll be focusing your efforts on generating demand using various methodologies (from content marketing/SEO, to events, and digital marketing/paid campaigns)
  • You are a scrappy experimenter that will hustle to find what channels are our most effective and tune them to generate opportunities for our sales team
  • Own our event marketing program which includes conferences, speaking engagements, Barley-hosted events, and co-hosting with partners
  • Leverage and evolve our marketing automation platform and CRM (i.e. Hubspot) to nurture our leads and increase conversion rates through recurring email campaigns
  • Work closely with sales to support our outbound sales efforts through marketing assisted campaigns (e.g. Account Based Marketing) and collateral

Important Experience and Skills to Succeed in this Role

  • 5+ years of marketing / demand gen experience within a growing B2B SaaS company (HR Tech experience a plus)
  • You love to lead and execute new marketing initiatives to grow the lead funnel and sales pipeline
  • You have an “any means necessary” attitude and can own an outcome
  • You think beyond “typical” B2B demand generation approaches and get excited about creative ways to generate demand
  • You are both highly data-driven and results-oriented, and have strong knowledge of B2B SaaS and marketing metrics
  • You have an in-depth knowledge of modern marketing methodologies, including account and persona-based marketing
  • You have strong communication skills – including verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • You have an eye for design and brand to know what good looks like
  • You have experience with marketing automation platforms (e.g. Salesforce Pardot, Hubspot)

Compensation
At Barley, we believe that more transparent compensation practices support more equitable pay for all. Depending on your experience/seniority, this role's compensation is:
💵 On-Target Earnings (Base Salary + Bonus): $115,000 - $155,000
📈 Stock Options: 0.1% - 0.3%
