About Staffbase

In a polarized world, we inspire people to achieve great things together. Our mission is to help organizations unlock the power of inspirational communication so they can thrive in the Narrative Age. Our award-winning communications channels - intranet, employee app and email - deliver experiences that drive engagement and inspire hearts and minds.

We’re headquartered in Chemnitz, Germany, with offices in many locations throughout the world, including New York, London, Berlin and Dresden. Our international team counts more than 750 employees from 45+ nationalities and we have a growing base of 2200+ customers that want to transform their employee experience. We are rapidly scaling, post-Series E ($115 million funding), have strong-growing revenue, and our customers love us.

The Staffbase Legal team works across all Staffbase departments to support the business in our rapid and international expansion.

This role is a full time position (40 hours per week) and can be based in Berlin or London.

As part of this role, you’ll be reporting directly to our Senior Legal Director, Commercial, who is based in London, UK. This role is primarily focussed on operational and legal help for Staffbase, including helping design legal processes, reviewing and amending legal documents for compliance with our policies and procedures, contract management, RFP/RFQ support and training our Communicorns on best practices.

You’ll work with NDAs, commercial agreements, and a bit of “everything else” that comes up within the business as an in-house paralegal. This role is unique in that you’ll get exposure to every level and area of the business, including commercial legal work, IT-law, privacy and compliance with the chance to develop skills in both commercial and privacy law. You’ll help to develop and manage legal processes across the business as we scale for growth, and to apply those processes to areas such as sales, procurement, and compliance. This role requires creative thinking and will collaborate directly with our executives, sales and customer experience teams.

Finally, the “only constant at a startup is change”, and so you need to be a self-starter, who has a hands-on approach in day-to-day work, and who enjoys a fast pace. Come build something fun with us!

What you need to be successful

  • Legal training, either in practice, through a degree (minimum B.Sc/Diploma in Commercial Law (Wirtschaftsjurist/-in) / First German State Examination in Law or similar or foreign equivalent e.g. Bachelor of Law), or as a contract manager
  • (First) inhouse legal experience in a start-/scale-up, corporate environment or law firm; SaaS or software industry experience is a plus
  • Experience with contract management (including drafting and negotiation)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in German and English (C1)
  • Affinity for technology, including using and exploring different tech tools
  • Familiarity with working with web tools like Ironclad, Salesforce and Confluence/Jira is a plus
