Full-Time | On-Site |

At AXIBO, we are building Canada’s first fully Canadian-designed and manufactured humanoid robotic platform—actuators, controllers, firmware, perception, and AI models included. Our robots operate in demanding industrial manufacturing environments, and we design every component—from BLDC motor controllers to high-voltage power stages—to deliver high performance, reliability, and safety.

If you want to shape the future of Canadian robotics, solve complex real-time engineering challenges, and work in a culture built on trust, ownership, and innovation, AXIBO will feel like home.

Why AXIBO?

We are a fast-moving, deeply technical robotics company driven by a mission:
Build sovereign Canadian robotic technology that enables flexible manufacturing at global scale.

Every actuator, controller, and PCB we design contributes directly to a humanoid robot that welds, climbs stairs, performs material handling, and adapts in real time through advanced AI perception and control.

We operate in an environment where:

  • Engineers own their designs end-to-end,
  • Creativity is encouraged,
  • Fail-fast learning is celebrated, and
  • Everyone is trusted to do the right thing.

Your Role: Electronics Engineering technologist

As an Electronics Engineering Technologist, you will support the design, prototyping, integration, and validation of AXIBO’s next-generation electronics for the humanoid platform, including high-power BLDC motor control hardware, FOC-based servo drive electronics, sensor interface/front-end circuits, power distribution, safety subsystems, and embedded communication networks.

Working closely with firmware, controls, mechanical design, and AI teams, you will help deliver integrated electronic subsystems by building and testing prototypes, preparing test setups, running bench and verification tests, troubleshooting hardware issues, collecting and compiling test data, and documenting procedures and results. The role supports reliable, production-ready electronics operating in millisecond-level real-time environments.

In This Role, You Will

Lead Electronics Development

  • Design and develop power equipment and systems
  • Test power equipment and systems
  • Supervise the building and testing of prototypes
  • Write specifications
  • Assist in preparing estimates, schedules, specifications and reports
  • Collect and compile operational or experimental data
  • Set up and operate specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of electrical and electronic components, assemblies and systems
  • Complete work orders, test and maintenance reports

FOC & BLDC Power System Experience

  • Experience working with BLDC Motor drivers designs and FOC control.
  • Experience working with low-level embedded firmware (STM32, G4/G0/H7 families) development
  • Experience working with communication protocols: CAN-FD, RS-485, SPI, I2C, and custom high-bandwidth sensor links
  • Background in PCB design for high-power and high-speed electronics

Experience and specialization

  • Equipment, systems and controls experience
  • Robotic equipment and systems
  • Electric motors, generators, drives and motor controls
  • Electronic testing equipment and systems

Who You Are

  • A hands-on engineering technologist who loves solving difficult system-level problems.
  • Thrives in an R&D environment—prototype, test, iterate.
  • Strong communicator who collaborates across teams and documents clearly.
  • Takes pride in both quick prototypes and production-ready hardware.

What You Bring

Required

  • Completion of a 2–3 year post-secondary diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology (or equivalent) and at least 1 year of relevant experience in embedded electronics development.
  • Hands-on experience with BLDC motor controllers, FOC, and real-time motor control systems.
  • Experience in PCB design for high-power and high-speed electronics, including grounding, signal integrity, and EMI/ESD considerations.
  • Experience in embedded firmware development for microcontrollers (C/C++, RTOS, DMA, timers, ADC synchronization).
  • Experience with communication protocols such as CAN-FD, RS-485, SPI, and Ethernet/UDP (or similar).
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines (firmware, mechanical, controls) and support technical execution through documentation, reviews, and prototype testing.

Preferred (Assets)

  • Exposure to robotics/actuation systems: Familiarity with motor-driven actuator and robotics systems, including BLDC servo drives, basic feedback/sensing integration, and hardware bring-up/testing.
  • FPGA as an asset: Awareness of FPGA-based digital logic concepts (VHDL/Verilog) and comfort interfacing embedded systems with external digital hardware; direct FPGA experience is a plus.
  • Safety & compliance as an asset: Familiarity with safety-oriented design practices (fault detection, safe-state behavior, isolation, EMI/ESD considerations); exposure to CSA/UL-style testing requirements is a plus.
  • Real-time robotics exposure: Familiarity with real-time robotics systems requiring deterministic control loops, low-latency sensor interfaces, and multi-disciplinary integration; exposure to AI-enabled robotics architectures is a plus.

Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation.
  • Flexible work hours; founder-level trust and autonomy.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage from day one.
  • Work on cutting-edge humanoid robotics with full ownership of subsystems.
  • Opportunities for rapid growth into senior technical or engineering management roles.
  • A supportive, tight-knit team environment where your impact is visible every day.
