What’s this role about?
As the Tax Manager at Auvik, you will lead all tax matters for our global entities. With the help of external advisors, you’ll be responsible for global reporting, compliance, and planning in the areas of corporate income tax; SR&ED and other government grants and credits; VAT, HST, and SUT; and the payroll tax implications of our evolving global strategies. You will be closely collaborating with the corporate controller and CFO in the management of all international tax matters, including the structuring and integration of potential acquisitions and geographic market expansion to support the Company’s overall growth strategy. Bringing your deep experience in International Tax, including Transfer Pricing, you will collaborate closely with leaders in Finance, Legal, Operations and other functional areas to ensure Auvik is well-positioned to effectively meet our operational and growth objectives.
What will I be doing?
- Own relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and tax authorities to ensure global tax compliance for all Auvik legal entities, including corporate tax, employment taxes, and sales taxes
- Responsible for the tax compliance activities in various jurisdictions – including Canada, US, UK, Spain, and other international jurisdictions
- Collaborate with the finance leadership team to build and implement strong international tax strategies
- Drive tax structuring and planning for M&A activities and for expansion into new tax jurisdictions
- Perform due diligence with respect to M&A activities
- Work with external advisors to develop and manage a global transfer pricing program including regular monitoring
- Own Auvik’s tax provisions and related disclosures in accordance with IFRS standards
- Stay current with international tax laws and regulations that affect indirect tax (US sales and use tax, VAT and Canadian sales tax), corporate income tax and other compliance requirements
- Regularly monitor Auvik’s indirect tax obligations (such as Canadian and US sales tax and VAT) to ensure compliance
- Collaborate with the Finance team on efficiently integrating acquired companies
- Oversee ad hoc tax matters, such as audits
- Review monthly tax reconciliations, tax payments to various tax authorities
- Manage SR&ED claims by working cross-functionally with the Engineering team
- Perform tax research and prepare or review technical documentation to support Auvik's tax positions
- Work with other departments in providing tax related research on sales & use tax, payroll and other tax related questions
What are we looking for?
- Several years of post-university tax experience, preferably working with an international organization operating in multiple jurisdictions or in public practice
- CPA designation and strong Canadian and international tax knowledge
- Transfer pricing, M&A, indirect tax and/or US taxation experience
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills including the capacity to perform detailed analysis while understanding broader context and implications
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams, managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive projects to completion
- Strong initiative and resourcefulness - if you don’t know the answers, you know where to get them

The hiring range for this position is listed below. Compensation offered for candidates in this role is based on a number of factors including job-related skills, knowledge, and experience. These factors may cause your compensation to vary within the range outlined below.
In addition to cash compensation, all full-time employees are granted stock options to share in Auvik’s future successes.
