Sales Engineer

Aterlo Networks (https://www.aterlo.com) is a Waterloo, Canada based scaleup company that builds innovative software products that measure and improve the quality of experience of Internet users. We are a growing team of industry professionals who are solving hard problems and building great products. Our Preseem product is used by hundreds of Internet Service Providers to measure, analyze and optimize the service quality delivered to their customers.

As a result of continued growth, we are currently looking for a Sales Engineer to join our team. In this role you will take ownership of advancing the technical aspects of our sales cycle, in conjunction with our sales team. You will use your technical experience, sales abilities and effective communications skills to coordinate and set expectations with prospects and customers, while building long-lasting relationships and trust.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical pre-sales support during the initial engagement, deployment and trial of this award-winning software suite by potential customers
  • Manage all technical aspects of onboarding new customers from kick-off call to completion, including providing clear communications on next steps and expectations at each stage of the process
  • Provide technical post-sales support during transitions or expansion opportunities for key customers
  • Identify potential new business opportunities by evaluating the technical needs and pain points of our customers
  • Work with prospects and customers to understand their network environments and requirements to determine the best deployment model and required hardware
  • Deliver presentations to prospects describing the value and technical details of the solution
  • Provide initial training to new customers using results from their network to demonstrate value at the end of the sales cycle
  • Provide feedback to Product Management and Engineering on product functionality and future enhancements
  • Ensure long-lasting relationships by consistently providing an outstanding customer experience
  • Work closely with the sales team to demonstrate our value during the onboarding process and turn prospects into happy and engaged customers

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical IT related, customer-facing role, preferably in the telecom industry
  • Demonstrated experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting, networking equipment, Linux and Linux-based applications
  • Experience implementing, installing, configuring and troubleshooting non-trivial enterprise or service provider networks, specifically with technologies such as OSPF, BGP, STP, 802.1ad and 802.3ad
  • Working knowledge of Bash, Python, and other automation tools
  • Experience working for an ISP or a provider of technical solutions would be an added bonus
  • An understanding of the sales and customer development process
  • Linux or networking certification (RHCE, CCNA, CCIE) would be an added bonus
  • A people person, with a friendly and positive manner towards our customers and team members
  • Proven ability to develop trusted relationships and follow through on commitments
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, self-development, and lifelong learning
  • Ability to think strategically and work with stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Willing and able to travel to customers globally
