We are seeking an Associate, Cell Culture to join Aspect’s Discovery Sciences team. Reporting to the Sr. Scientist, Discovery Sciences, you will be responsible for performing bioprinting projects related to the development of cell therapies for liver disease. This includes planning and performing lab experiments, analyzing data, and presenting the results to a diverse audience. As part of a team dedicated to advancing our therapeutic portfolio from the discovery stage to clinical manufacturing, you will contribute to high-impact projects that align with our mission of creating life-saving therapeutics. Your work will play a critical role in achieving key research milestones and help advance our cutting edge bioprinted therapeutic programs to improve patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mammalian cell culture procedures, including primary cell isolation, cell expansion, media changes, cell counting, and sample collection.
- Perform in vitro assays using plate readers, such as ELISAs, to analyze biological responses.
- Carry out microscopy-based assays to assess cell viability, distribution within bioprinted tissues, and cell characterization using immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry techniques.
- Execute scientific studies to support the bioprinting of cell-containing therapeutic tissues
- Support in vivo studies by preparing cultured cells, biomaterials, and media to meet experimental requirements.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret findings, and contribute to program milestones through detailed reports and impactful presentations.
- Collaborate with Therapeutic Cell Platform and Process Development teams to align cell culture processes with therapeutic development objectives.
- Maintain clear and rigorous experimental records by adhering to Good Documentation Practice.
- Proactively investigate and improve existing methods and techniques.
- Leverage expertise in cell biology to influence therapeutic strategies and contribute to program development.
Qualifications
- Education + Experience: BSc or MSc. in Cell Biology or a related discipline, with a cumulative 1 year of hands-on cell culture experience. Experience in a commercial or biotech setting is considered an asset.
- Cell Culture Knowledge: Expertise in sterile technique and mammalian cell culture is required. Familiarity with 3D, spheroid, organoid, or hydrogel cell culture, as well as primary or stem-cell-derived epithelial cells, is an asset.
- Lab Skills: Hands-on experience with plate reader-based assays and ELISAs is required. Familiarity with magnetic cell separation techniques and microscopy-based assay techniques is considered an asset.

The hiring range for this role is $48,000-$68,000, annually. Our ranges are based on market data. Offered salaries will be based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. For candidates who exceed role requirements, we are open to exploring above-range offers. Note that base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at Aspect.
