As an Assistant Store Manager – Visual Merchandising, you’ll help bring the Article brand to life in our showroom by leading visual merchandising execution, creating inspiring customer environments, and ensuring every space reflects our design philosophy and brand standards.

Why We Need You:

As we prepare to open our first Toronto showroom, we're creating a space that brings the Article brand to life in a new market. Visual merchandising will play a critical role in how customers experience our products, connect with our design philosophy, and imagine Article in their homes.

We're looking for a creative and detail-oriented leader who can transform merchandising strategies into inspiring showroom experiences that support the customer journey and drive business performance. From opening day through future seasonal updates, you'll help establish the visual standards, storytelling, and presentation excellence that will define the Toronto showroom experience.

Within your first few months, you'll help bring a brand-new showroom to life, execute opening merchandising plans, and establish visual standards for the team. In a year, you'll be proud to say you've helped build a visually compelling destination that inspires customers, supports sales growth, and sets the foundation for Article's continued retail expansion.

About the new store:
  • Our store address is: 88 Bathurst St., Toronto
  • Store size: 9,500 Sq feet
  • Staff size/ model: 1x Store Manager, 2x Assistant Managers, 2x Sales Floor Leads, 9-12x Home Experts (associates)
  • Hours of operation: The store is open 7 days per week, 10 am - 8 pm.
  • Travel: You will be required to travel within the US and Canada. So you will require a valid passport.
Interview and Onboarding Schedule

First Interview ( June 8th- 12th)
  • A 45-minute video interview with our Talent Acquisition team to discuss your background and interest in Article.
Second Interview (June 15th-19th)
  • An in-person interview with the Store Manager.
Final Interview (June 22nd- 23rd)
  • Video interview with Sr. Manager of Retail Operations.
Onboarding & Training in Vancouver, BC ( July 13th- 24th)
  • If hired, your first two weeks will be spent at our Vancouver HQ for hands-on training and connection with the broader Retail leadership team.

What You’ll Do

You'll be part of the store leadership team, leading visual merchandising execution and presentation excellence across the showroom.
  • Champion and uphold Article's Visual Merchandising Standards throughout the showroom.
  • Create inspiring and functional room layouts that showcase key collections and product stories.
  • Execute seasonal merchandising directives, floor moves, and showroom updates.
  • Maintain exceptional presentation standards across product displays, lighting, signage, styling, and accessory placement.
  • Conduct regular showroom walkthroughs to identify opportunities and maintain visual consistency.
  • Utilize visual storytelling to communicate Article's brand, design philosophy, and product features.
  • Partner with Store Leadership and the Regional Visual Merchandising Manager to execute merchandising strategies and initiatives.
  • Coach associates on visual merchandising standards, presentation excellence, and showroom maintenance.
  • Analyze customer traffic flow, product engagement, and showroom effectiveness to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Lead by example with resilience, adaptability, and above-the-line behaviour.

Who You Are

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of retail leadership experience in a customer-facing environment.
  • 2+ years of visual merchandising experience in retail.
  • Strong understanding of visual presentation, space planning, and product storytelling.
  • Experience executing merchandising standards and maintaining presentation excellence.
Leadership & Coaching
  • Sets clear expectations for visual merchandising standards and daily execution.
  • Models accountability through reliability, ownership, and attention to detail.
  • Provides timely coaching and feedback to support team development.
  • Uses facts, observations, and business needs to prioritize merchandising activities.
  • Supports learning while maintaining accountability for presentation standards.
Technical Skills
  • Strong visual design instincts and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret merchandising directives and translate them into compelling in-store experiences.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Legally able to work in Canada.
  • Completion of a criminal background check.
Travel Requirements:
  • Valid passport and ability to travel throughout Canada and the United States.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in furniture, home furnishings, lifestyle, or fashion retail.
  • Interest in interior design, styling, or space planning.
  • Experience working with visual merchandising tools, mood boards, or floor planning software.
  • Experience supporting store openings, seasonal resets, or large-scale merchandising projects.

    • The starting salary will be determined by your transferable skills, knowledge, and work experience, and the hiring team’s budget based on business needs, market compensation data, and internal equity
