Hi there, we’re Article. 👋 Since 2013, we have been redefining the furniture industry one sofa at a time, it’s not easy — it requires solving challenging, meaningful problems. This is where you come in, as the Manager, Project Management, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the PMO Function by directly overseeing the team of project managers.

*Please note: We will be prioritizing local candidates for this role (Lower Mainland BC). Additionally, this role requires 1-2 trips per year to our Vietnam Office.


Why We Need You:

This position is designed to ensure the effective and efficient management of projects across the organization, aligning with the strategic direction set by the PMO Function Owner. The role involves mentoring and leading project managers, optimizing project execution strategies, and contributing to the continuous improvement of project management processes and standards.

At Article, we have roughly 30 functions - all of our project-based activities are divided into two "types" of portfolios. Either, Operating OR investment portfolios. Currently, we are managing most of all project work at Article, and we aim to onboard all projects by the end of the year.

We need this person to operate the current portfolios under the set standards while working out the work's nuances and looking for opportunities to add new services (Ex: Change management, advanced reporting, etc...)

About the PMO Team:

Project Management Operations in Article is a little different than in other organizations. PMO is not accountable for the project to meet its objectives, that accountability is on the business stakeholder. Instead, they are accountable for the Project Plan and co-ordinating.

The team is located in 2 regions. There are 4 Project Managers in our Vancouver HQ and 3 Project Managers in Vietnam (Calls with the Vietnam team will be between 3-5 pm or a time of your choosing).

What You’ll Do:

  • Directly manage and support a team of 7 project managers (split between Vancouver and Vietnam), ensuring high performance and alignment with departmental strategy.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and refine project management methodologies, tools, and best practices to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among cross-functional project contributors, ensuring a clear understanding of project objectives and progress.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with the PMO Function Owner and organizational excellence consultants to integrate organizational efficiency strategies into project management practices.
  • Contribute to the development and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) for project management, ensuring continuous improvement in project delivery.
  • Manage resource allocation and project prioritization, balancing workload and strategic objectives.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning within the PMO.

Who You Are:

  • 5-7 years of experience in project management operations, with a proven track record of leading and managing project teams (similar size) - you are someone who is a real people manager, not just someone who directs.
  • PMP or similar project management certification.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Nice to have - Familiarity with furniture, eCommerce, or related industries.
  • Nice to have - exposure to change management in a medium to large-sized organization.
  • Any experience with Wrike is nice to have.
  • We use G Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Google Docs, Meet, etc) to work and Slack to collaborate and communicate.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.
  • Completion of criminal background check.
