Cence is looking for a talented Embedded Hardware Designer to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Engineering at our Markham location, the successful candidate will be responsible for improving, designing, prototyping, testing, and documenting our patented low-voltage DC power distribution systems with a focus on Class 2 power. You will collaborate closely with other engineers on our team to ensure that designs are both elegant and efficient.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and development of innovative low voltage direct current (LVDC) power systems, focusing on Class 2 power systems and power electronics.
- Design, simulate, and validate analog circuits and systems using various CAD tools.
- Assemble, solder, and test PCB prototypes, integrating novel signal processing methods.
- Create schematic and PCB designs using KiCAD.
- Optimize BOM, evaluate components, and analyze datasheets.
- Perform in-circuit testing (ICT) and functional testing (FCT) of PCBs.
- Verify product specifications and execute a Design Validation Plan.
- Use circuit simulation software such as LTspice and TI WEBENCH.
- Stay updated on innovations and trends in power electronics and related fields like DC power distribution and IoT to guide research and development.
- Provide technical support during production: troubleshoot production issues, support continuous improvement, design, validate, and maintain high-volume functional testers for production.
Qualifications:
- Advanced Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or a related field with 1+ years of experience in analog/digital circuit design and power electronics.
- Technician Diploma in a related field with 3+ years of experience in analog/digital circuit design and power electronics.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in analog/digital circuit design and power electronics without formal education requirements.
Preferred Skills:
- Expertise in designing and implementing operational amplifier circuits, power MOSFETs and gate drivers, signal processing.
- Experience with Embedded C/C++ and Python.
- Familiarity with microcontrollers such as ESP32, STM32, and NRF52x.
- Proficiency in using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other debugging tools.
- Experience with analog-digital conversion, filtering, and signal conditioning circuits.
- Extensive experience with schematic design and PCB layouts.
- Knowledge of circuit protection design, products, and methods.
- Proficiency in designing for manufacturability, scalability, and reliability.
- Experience with EMI and EMC design considerations.
- Familiarity with communication buses (e.g., PCIe, Ethernet) and protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, USB).
- Strong technical report writing and documentation skills.
- Understanding of certification standards such as CSA and UL.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
