Arctic Wolf, with its unicorn valuation, is the leader in security operations in an exciting and fast-growing industry—cybersecurity. We have won countless awards for our excellence in security operations and remain dedicated to providing an industry-leading customer and employee experience.

Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for a Senior Reliability Developer to be part of making this happen.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Reliability Developer to join our SRE team. The ideal candidate has been part of developing an SRE team and associated processes, and has strong technical skills. If you want the opportunity to help scale an SRE team from the ground up to a global team, this is the job for you.

Our systems run globally and scale to handle more than 250 billion events per day with continued exponential growth. Security is what we do and reliability is what we need in order to provide the best possible Security Operations for our customers. We live and breathe Infrastructure-as-Code and are working hard to build a world class CI/CD pipeline. The SRE team is not a classic Operations team with a fancy label, but a software engineering role with a focus on reliability.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Help develop SRE processes and best practices

  • Design, develop, and deploy software to help scale the customer-facing services with a focus on security and reliability

  • Work with other R&D infrastructure teams to continue to develop the continuous delivery and observability systems

  • Collaborate with the R&D product teams in developing reliable, scalable, observable systems

  • Triage and debug production incidents, and participate in blameless postmortems

  • Reduce toil by automating everything

We value a culture of sharing, so every team has the opportunity to share their work with the entire department during our monthly R&D Demos. Once a year we hold a department-wide Hackathon, teaming up across all R&D teams over four days to collaborate and build cool ideas outside the normal project scope. While innovation is the focus, some of these ideas do make it into our products.

About You

You’re an experienced software developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges with little to no guidance. You care about writing quality code that is maintainable. Working collaboratively in cross-functional teams is your thing. Colleagues look to you for guidance on software development best practices.

You should have experience in many of the following areas:

  • Working in an SRE Engineering team to reducing toil for R&D teams and managing large-scale services

  • Experience with software development and testing using Go or Python

  • Designing, building and running distributed, scalable systems following Agile development practices

  • AWS technologies including EKS, SQS, EventBridge, S3 and CloudFormation

  • Company-wide communication and rollout of services for internal usage; we want individuals who take ownership and deliver shared services to other R&D teams

  • Championing, implementing, and using SLOs, SLIs, SLAs and error budgets

  • Configuring monitoring and visualization systems (Prometheus, CloudWatch, Grafana, etc)

  • Ubuntu or other Linux operating system variants

In addition, you have proven leadership experience from previous projects, regardless of title held. You have the ability to perform programming tasks and large engineering projects with Independence and expertise. You will be responsible for guiding and mentoring other staff members and will regularly lead technical projects. You have a high level of mastery over software development best practices and building reusable design patterns.

Previous security experience is preferred but not required. We provide all the cybersecurity training you need during onboarding and on-the-job training.

Interview Process

The interview process is approximately as follows:

  • Phone pre-screening: A recruiter contacts you to briefly discuss your work history and provide an overview of Arctic Wolf. Approximately 30 minutes.

  • Technical assessment: A recruiter sends you a link to a straightforward CodeSignal test that is relevant to the role you are applying for. Approximately 1.5 hours.

  • Face-to-face interviews: Pairs of team members conduct two interviews to learn more about you and provide more information about your potential role and team. Be prepared to collaborate on a technical problem and talk more about past projects and your career goals. Approximately 1.5 hour tech interview followed by 1 hour culture interview.

Security Requirements

  • Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with AW’s Information Security policies, standards, processes, and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of AW business information assets.

  • Must pass a criminal background check and an employment verification as a condition of employment.
