Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for a Director, R&D to be part of making that happen.
The Director, R&D will contribute to our Excellence and Reliability Engineering department, by leading initiatives this means that they ensure all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization's established policies and objectives. They report into a Senior Director of R&D infrastructure. They work closely with R&D Leadership, Product Management and Security Services(S2) to ensure their teams are building what our customers and users need in a timely fashion. The Director will have multiple team and technical leads reporting to them.
As a Director, R&D at Arctic Wolf, you will:
Manage team(s) that will deliver high quality, innovative software solutions, in collaboration with stakeholders such as architects, developers, product managers, and customer success teams.
Support the team by providing clarity removing blockers, and improving excellence of practice
Execute on and improve the Infrastructure Team roadmap
Ensure teams are highly motivated, performing well, and delivering work on time.
Remove any blockers preventing teams from getting their work done.
Make sure each team is clear on the objectives and goals they are striving to achieve.
Work with team members to deliver the key features.
Own the mission of increasing reliability and engineering excellence execution at Arctic Wolf
Oversee the full software development life cycle.
Design, collect and share metrics on all teams’ performance
Ensure your department is following ISMS regulations - Secure Coding Practices, Acceptable Use
Develop careers of team members - Regular One on Ones and skip level meetings. Career and personal development coaching. Mentoring managers and Team leads to support the strength of our management team.
We're Looking For Someone With Experience In:
Building Engineering Excellence programs and influencing best practices across organizations.
Skill in spearheading organizational transformations, and influencing behavior across a diverse organization.
Skill in leading in a DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Platform Engineering environment.
Expert in enforcing excellence though pipelines.
Skill in creating and managing Error Budgets, SLOs, SLAs, and SLIs.
Familiarity with market trends and tooling in the following area: Reliability Engineering, DORA Metrics and practices, Software Quality, Observability, Automated response
A proven ability to develop relationships and communicate with senior executives.
Presenting data for business sense-making, especially in dashboards.
The ability to explain technical concepts for audiences with different technical skill levels.
Skills to prioritize projects with limited guidance and develop compelling justification.
Nice to Have:
Passion about MLOps to integrate ML practices into platform engineering.
Comfort with the rapid transformations of a late stage pre-IPO organization
Expertise leading international teams
A history of the ops portion of IT ops
