The Senior Software Engineer - WIMS is responsible for leading the development and support of our legacy WIMS (Water Information Management System) product and enhancing it as per customer requirements. This engineer will also be responsible for conducting the gap analysis in collaboration with our product management team to understand the gaps between our legacy WIMS tool and our modern, cloud-based WIMS RIO platform. This role requires a seasoned engineer with robust problem-solving skills, full-stack development experience, and the flexibility to work with both older and contemporary technologies.

This position is part of the Engineering department and will be Hybrid (1 day onsite) from either one of these locations:
- Loveland, CO, US.

- Vancouver, BC, Canada

In this role, a typical day will look like:

  • Product Ownership: Take full ownership of the HACH WIMS product, ensuring its stability, functionality, and responsiveness to the needs of our customers.

  • Maintenance and Enhancement: Lead efforts to maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance the existing WIMS application written in VB6, addressing both minor adjustments and significant upgrades.

  • Integration and Innovation: Define and execute a strategy to bridge gaps between the legacy WIMS system and the modern WIMS RIO platform, ensuring seamless migration and parity in functionality.

  • New Design & Development: Contribute to the development of WIMS RIO, utilizing C#, Azure, and other modern cloud technologies to expand and enhance its capabilities to match that of our legacy WIMS product.

  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Mentor and potentially manage one or two junior engineers, guiding them in their professional development and ensuring high-quality contributions to the project.

  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with product managers, other engineers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals and optimal product performance.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in Computer Science or Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of professional software development experience, with a proven record of accomplishment in both legacy systems and modern cloud-based solutions.

  • Expertise in VB6 and its associated legacy technologies.

  • Proficient in C#, .NET, MS SQL and Azure cloud services.

  • Strong full-stack development capabilities, including both front-end and back-end technologies.

  • Experience with SAAS products and cloud architecture principles.

Compensation details:

The salary range for this role is $100,000 CAD – $110,000 CAD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
