Your Contribution to Our Growth
We are seeking a highly skilled API Integration Specialist to own the end‑to‑end API integration lifecycle. You will act as the technical bridge between our platform, client financial institutions (banks, payment processors, custodians) and crypto services. In this client‑facing role you will elicit and document partner requirements, design and implement adapter rules, data mappings and transformations, validate integrations through testing, and translate partner needs into clear, engineering‑ready specifications while collaborating with product, engineering, security/compliance and external technical teams. You will enable transaction orchestration and automation of treasury workflows across fiat and digital‑asset rails, improve operational efficiency, ensure adherence to financial and security standards, and help scale reliable, auditable connections for global transactions. This is a full‑time, permanent, hybrid position based either in Dubai or Downtown Toronto. Candidates located in Dubai must be available for evening stand‑up calls with the North American team.
What You’ll Do
- Engage directly with clients, client banks, financial institutions, payment processors and crypto partners to gather, clarify and document technical and operational requirements.
- Review, evaluate and interpret third‑party API specifications and banking/crypto interface documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger, vendor docs, JSON).
- Produce detailed data mappings and transformation specifications (field-level mappings, types, validation rules) between our API models and bank/FI, payment processor, and crypto/custody/wallet schemas.
- Implement adapter rules and middleware configurations (mapping tables, transformation scripts, routing logic) in integration platforms or API gateways; maintain reusable adapter libraries and templates.
- Translate client requirements into engineering-ready artifacts: OpenAPI specs, sequence diagrams, acceptance criteria, user stories, and change requests; prioritize and hand off work to engineering and integration teams.
- Design integration architectures and API contracts, including authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, client certs), error handling, idempotency, retry/backoff strategies and rate limits.
- Create and maintain integration runbooks, sample code/SDKs, Postman collections, test harnesses, and sandbox environments for partner onboarding and testing.
- Define and execute test plans and acceptance testing with partners: unit, integration, regression, security and performance testing; run partner UATs, capture defects, and coordinate remediation with engineering.
- Coordinate connectivity and security setup with partners and internal TechOps (IP whitelisting, VPNs, TLS/mTLS cert exchange).
- Monitor and validate production integrations, investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate fixes with engineering and external contacts; update adapter rules and mappings as needed.
- Drive onboarding programs for new partners: scoping, effort estimation, timelines, acceptance criteria, go/no-go readiness and post‑go‑live handoff to operations/support.
- Support compliance and security review processes: consent flows, data retention, audit trails, AML/KYC considerations for fiat‑crypto rails, and participate in penetration test and vulnerability remediation activities.
- Liaise with product, sales and customer success to clarify integration scope, provide technical input for RFPs/SOWs, and deliver technical onboarding and training to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Stay current on banking and crypto standards (ISO 20022, SWIFT, ACH/SEPA/Fedwire, token standards) and recommend improvements to integration patterns and platform capabilities.
We’d Love to See
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience; relevant certifications a plus.
- 4+ years’ hands‑on experience integrating with bank or FI systems and/or crypto services; proven experience working directly with client FIs to elicit requirements and own integrations end‑to‑end.
- Demonstrated ability to translate client business and technical requirements into detailed technical specifications, acceptance criteria, and engineering tasks.
- Hands‑on experience implementing adapter/transform rules in middleware, iPaaS or API gateway platforms (MuleSoft, Boomi, Apigee, Kong, custom mapping scripts).
- Deep experience with RESTful APIs and API design: OpenAPI/Swagger, versioning and backward compatibility.
- Strong data skills: JSON and XML, data modeling, schema validation, field‑level mapping and transformations; familiarity with ISO 20022 and payments schemas a strong plus.
- Solid knowledge of authentication and security standards: OAuth2,, JWT, mutual TLS/client certificates, HMAC, PKI, TLS 1.2/1.3.
- Practical experience bridging modern REST/RPC interfaces with legacy banking protocols (SOAP, ISO 8583) and implementing middleware translations.
- Proficiency with integration/testing tools: Postman, SoapUI, Swagger Editor, API gateways, CI/CD pipelines, and container basics (Docker); familiarity with monitoring/observability tools for production integrations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills—comfortable running technical workshops, conducting partner walkthroughs, and conveying technical requirements to engineering and non‑technical teams.
- Strong problem solving, analytical skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple concurrent onboarding projects and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to participate in occasional off‑hours/on‑call support and coordinate cross‑timezone work with external partners.
- Nice‑to‑have: domain knowledge of DeFi/DEX integrations, MPC/HSM certifications, smart contract development/auditing experience, and cloud platform experience (AWS).
