The Opportunity:
ApplyBoard is looking to hire a Manager, International Student Recruitment to lead and grow our China market presence while ensuring market share growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction. This leadership role demands a seasoned professional to manage the overall operations, develop robust sales plans, drive team performance, and ensure customer engagement. The role includes recruiting and mentoring top-tier talent, building scalable processes, and fostering a culture of excellence within the sales team.
This position will report directly to senior leadership and requires a proactive leader who is comfortable with strategy, execution, and team alignment. Availability for domestic and international travel is a key component of this role.
What You'll Be Doing Every Day:
Sales Leadership and Team Management
Lead and manage a team of high-performing sales professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and coaching.
Set clear sales targets, performance plans, and objective standards, aligning them with the company’s goals.
Conduct one-on-one meetings weekly to review team member performance, progress, and objectives.
Deliver detailed performance reviews quarterly for all team members, with actionable development plans.
Unite and inspire the team by cultivating a positive, goal-oriented culture and encouraging the sharing of best practices.
Sales Strategy and Planning
Develop and implement scalable sales strategies and Go-to-Market plans tailored to the China market.
Collaborate with marketing executives to create targeted lead generation plans and improve market penetration.
Leverage data insights to project, forecast, and adjust annual and quarterly revenue goals for the team.
Monitor competition, economic trends, and industry dynamics, adjusting plans to stay ahead.
Customer Engagement and Relationship Management
Maintain a deep understanding of customer needs to anticipate market demands and tailor solutions.
Resolve escalated customer issues and complaints with precision and urgency, ensuring long-term satisfaction.
Strengthen customer engagement through high-touch strategies, regular feedback loops, and collaborative problem-solving.
Process Improvement and Technology Adoption
Build and roll out administrative process documentation and sales training manuals to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
Drive adoption and correct utilization of sales technologies like CRM tools, ensuring reps follow through on daily tasks and assignments.
Implement regular skills training sessions, collaborating with internal and external trainers.
Other Key Responsibilities
Recruit, onboard, and train top-tier sales representatives to meet evolving business demands.
Address conflicts of interest within the sales team promptly and effectively.
Analyze and share sales metrics and data with company leadership, highlighting performance and identifying gaps.
Travel domestically and internationally to strengthen partner relationships and support the team’s efforts on the ground.
What You Bring to the Table:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin (required).
Minimum 10 years of experience in the education recruitment field, with a proven ability to build strong customer relationships and drive sales success.
At least 3 years of experience managing sales teams, with a track record of achieving and exceeding quotas.
A strong background in sales planning, forecasting, and execution, particularly in dynamic and competitive markets.
Demonstrated experience building and implementing Go-to-Market strategies.
A successful track record in B2B sales, showcasing an ability to build and manage client relationships effectively.
Experience in managing escalations, customer expectations, and complex client portfolios.
Expertise in motivating teams and fostering high performance through personalized coaching and development.
Experience creating and implementing administrative processes and sales documentation that improve operational efficiency.
Familiarity with sales technologies and CRMs, with the ability to drive adoption and optimize their use within the team.
Preferred/Added Assets
Background in tech sales is an asset, particularly with experience leveraging technology solutions to drive market penetration.
Availability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
