Summary / Role Purpose

The Senior R&D Engineer is responsible for the development of software products and supporting systems. As part of Office of CTO, in this role you will do research in Generative AI and deep learning on foundation models for physics building on top of SLM or LLMs to implement them on our local ML infrastructure.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research and prototype SLMs and LLMs to apply them for specefic physics and physics models.
  • Build datasets, infrasturcture and models with fundamental general capabilities of different modalities of physics such understanding of specific physics, boundary conditions, loading as well as other constraints in physics.
  • Research deep learning methods to apply them for numerical simulation in context of fluids, structures, electromagnetics, optics, and electronics.
  • Participates in brainstorming, planning, architecture and research.
  • Employs best practices in LLM space for prompt engineering, fine-tining and creating vector datasets using Ansys tools and products.
  • Collaborate with product engineering teams to drive real-time model implementations and new feature creations.
  • Design efficient model pipelines to deploy foundation models.
  • Publish influential research outcomes, and give presentations in top-tier conferences and journals.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision and may take on some planning and mentoring responsibilities.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Required Minimum Years of Professional Experience: BS+5, MS+3, or PhD+1
  • 2 years of experience with Deep Learning specifically in LLMs/SLMs
  • Publications or hands-on experience in large foundation model development, computer vision, data synthesis, knowledge distillation, and distributed/decentralized system design.
  • Experience developing machine learning code in C++ or Python
  • Expertise in C++ or Python with focus on deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX, or Scikit Learn

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Masters with a minimum of 3 years of software development experience or a PhD degree with 1 yrs experience in working with LLMs or SLMs using fine tuning.

  • Publication in leading journals or conferences such as, NeurlPS, ICML or ICLR

  • Experience with 3D geometry or computer vision
