About the Company

At Torc, we have always believed that autonomous vehicle technology will transform how we travel, move freight, and do business.

A leader in autonomous driving since 2007, Torc has spent over a decade commercializing our solutions with experienced partners. Now a part of the Daimler family, we are focused solely on developing software for automated trucks to transform how the world moves freight.

Join us and catapult your career with the company that helped pioneer autonomous technology, and the first AV software company with the vision to partner directly with a truck manufacturer.

Meet the Team
The System Integration & Release group plays a pivotal role in product engineering at Torc, ensuring the seamless integration and validation of our autonomous vehicle software and hardware. This team bridges software bring-up, system-level validation, and cross-functional troubleshooting to deliver safe, stable, and reliable builds that are ready for on-road testing and deployment. We partner closely with engineering, test, and operations groups to drive integration maturity and ensure our systems perform at scale.
About the Role
We’re looking for a seasoned technical leader to drive the execution, strategy, and performance of the Systems Integration & Test function. The Director will oversee software bring-up, on-truck system integration, and cross-platform testing efforts. While a background in integration and test is a plus, what’s most critical is strong leadership experience and the ability to build, scale, and inspire high-performing teams in a complex, fast-paced environment.
This leader will be embedded in our Ann Arbor Tech Center and responsible for on-site coordination across engineering functions. Success in this role requires a strong grasp of technical systems, excellent communication, and a relentless focus on execution, delivery, and people development.
What You’ll Do
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for software and hardware integration across the autonomy stack and vehicle platform.
  • Own the bring-up process of software systems on vehicles and HIL platforms, ensuring successful deployment and operational readiness.
  • Partner with software, test, validation, and release teams to define integration priorities, debug system-level issues, and streamline handoffs.
  • Develop and scale frameworks for system testing, defect triage, release qualification, and performance tracking.
  • Provide visibility to program milestones, system maturity, and integration health to executive stakeholders.
  • Establish best practices and tooling for efficient system-level testing and automation.
  • Grow and mentor managers and ICs across a cross-functional team structure.
  • Act as a technical and strategic escalation point for cross-team integration issues.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of engineering leadership experience, with at least 5+ years managing large-scale system integration or test teams in complex environments (e.g., autonomy, automotive, aerospace, or robotics).
  • Strong understanding of full-stack software systems, embedded platforms, and cross-functional integration practices.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams through rapid scaling, tight timelines, and evolving organizational priorities.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A hands-on, execution-focused mindset and the ability to drive clarity and accountability across teams.
Bonus Points
  • Background in autonomous systems or ADAS feature development.
  • Experience with system bring-up on physical test platforms or vehicles.
  • Familiarity with HIL systems, ROS/ROS2, safety-critical system testing, or CI/CD infrastructure.
  • Exposure to defect management, test automation, or metrics-driven engineering practices.
