Meet the team:
The Release division plays a critical role in Torc’s product engineering and release lifecycle. The Release division is responsible for ensuring safe and successful product delivery by working collaboratively across engineering divisions to sponsor and drive the release ecosystem. Configuration Management is an essential part of the release process, ensuring identification, consistency, versioning and recording of product configuration items.
What you’ll do:
The Configuration Management Lead is responsible to sponsor and implement configuration management planning, processes, procedures, tooling and oversight within the Torc product development lifecycle. The responsibilities include providing subject matter advice and guidance on CM best practice methods, standards, and requirements to Torc technology teams.
A successful candidate will have experience performing thought leadership, cross-function collaboration, and driving initiatives to implement and evolve configuration management processes. A robust background in large-scale, safety-critical systems and/or software development processes within complex development systems is necessary to guide company engineering procedures.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and implement configuration management process and structure for full product portfolio including embedded software/ hardware, customer facing portals, value-add Torc services.
- Lead in the design and implementation of the Configuration Management framework, including identifying and documenting the items to be controlled and the information to be captured and recorded.
- Identify, organize and report on configuration items included in the Product Development lifecycle including requirements, architecture, design, hardware, software, test and verification deliverables.
- Ensure the proper baseline identification of current and historical configuration items can be accurately determined throughout the product lifespan, perform periodic audits, and provide verification of configuration items release versioning.
- Summarize and communicate configuration status, participate in change control boards (CCBs) and attend meetings with management and other functional groups to obtain information about and authorizations for the release of configuration items included in Torc’s product line.
- Provide recommendations for backup and recovery mechanisms of configuration item database(s).
- Monitor and manage CM process corrective action plans and implement process improvement responses.
- Provide metrics regarding implementation and adherence to CM processes throughout Torc’s engineering teams.
- Contribute to a rapid integration and deployment schedule for self-driving software stack with consistent and managed releases, both internal and external to Torc.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related technical field
- 10+ years of industry experience leading software system development and sustainment as a CM Specialist or CM systems administrator
- Experience using enterprise level PLM (product lifecycle management) software such as Aras Innovator or Fluke EMaint
- Experience with complex embedded systems and their associated configuration items
- Strong problem-solving / analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to learn in unstructured environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills enabling
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving software/hardware infrastructure
Bonus Points!
- Experience evaluating and deploying enterprise level PLM (product lifecycle management) software such as Aras Innovator or Fluke EMaint
- Configuration management of safety-critical systems, understanding of systems engineering and verification, validation methodologies.
