About the Company

At Torc, we have always believed that autonomous vehicle technology will transform how we travel, move freight, and do business.

A leader in autonomous driving since 2007, Torc has spent over a decade commercializing our solutions with experienced partners. Now a part of the Daimler family, we are focused solely on developing software for automated trucks to transform how the world moves freight.

Join us and catapult your career with the company that helped pioneer autonomous technology, and the first AV software company with the vision to partner directly with a truck manufacturer.

The System Integration and Release group plays a critical role in product engineering. The teams are responsible for ensuring the safe and successful deployment of autonomous vehicles, by performing system integration, implementing rigorous testing processes, using advanced testing tools to collect data and analyze the system performance.

The System Integration Engineer is part of a team that performs software and system integration of our self-driving truck solution. The responsibilities involve performing integration activities on software and hardware subsystems and components, troubleshooting, data collection, analysis of data collected during extended testing, developing a continuous integration pipeline, orchestrating functional deployments, and helping with release delivery. A successful candidate will have experience performing thought leadership, cross-function collaboration, and hands-on integration experience with proven methods for solving integration issues. A robust background in large-scale, safety-critical embedded systems and/or software development processes within complex development systems is necessary to be successful. The primary goal of system integration is to ensure stability, reliability and quality of the SDT solution and that the system is ready for more advanced system-level testing and verification

What you'll be doing:

  • Utilize system knowledge to prepare a system integration strategy for each product release that proactively plans for integration points and maintains a working integration baseline.
  • Perform integration of components and subsystems to enable the deployment of self-driving software onto vehicles and test benches
  • Develop and execute integration test plans utilizing available test modalities to ensure operational system prior to deployment to extended testing groups
  • Perform day-to-day integration activities on target hardware and develop new test capabilities
  • Evaluate full system performance in terms of embedded resource usage, testing for reliability and endurance
  • Be a cross-collaborative champion to understand the contributions of relevant sub-systems, facilitate integration troubleshooting of component and system integration issues and guiding the team to an efficient resolution
  • Create automated test cases for software testing pipeline to increase the efficiency of the system integration release process
  • Contribute to a rapid integration and deployment schedule for self-driving software stack with consistent releases to extended testing teams
  • Develop data analysis scripts and visualization tools to quickly extract key learnings and trends from system testing on target hardware
  • Create requirements for new tools or automation to increase overall testing capabilities
  • Track and report system performance KPIs on a regular basis

What you will need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, computer science, robotics, or related technical field
  • 7+ years technical design experience for robotic, automotive, or aerospace systems
  • Background in structured testing of safety-critical systems, strong understanding of systems engineering and verification, validation methodologies
  • Experience with ADAS technologies i.e. autonomous driving software architecture, sensors, networking, compute hardware, control systems
  • Experience with UDP, TCP, CAN and network routing
  • Experience with software development tools i.e. build systems, containers, source control etc
  • Experience with real-time operating systems
  • Experience with designing HIL Test environments and developing test frameworks.
  • Testing, experience with onsite/remote access test environments, strong problem-solving / analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to learn in unstructured environments
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving software/hardware infrastructure

Bonus Points!

  • Experience testing autonomous vehicles, ROS based robotics systems or ADAS features
  • Experience designing and commissioning custom HIL test fixtures
