Summary
We are seeking a skilled Data Prep Ops Engineer to join our data operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data preparation pipelines and processes to ensure high-quality, reliable data is available for analysis and decision-making across the organization.
Data Prep Ops
- Design, develop, and optimize robust data preparation workflows and pipelines using ETL/ELT tools and programming languages
- Automate data cleansing, transformation, and integration processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
- Implement automated data quality checks and alerting systems to ensure data accuracy and consistency
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver optimized datasets
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to integrate data pipelines into CI/CD environments.
- Develop and maintain documentation for data preparation processes and best practices
- Stay up-to-date with the latest data engineering tools, technologies, and methodologies
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in data engineering, data analytics, or a similar role
- Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and experience with data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Pandas)
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in ETL/ELT tools and data pipeline orchestration platforms (e.g., Apache Airflow, Luigi)
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- 2+ years of working experience with robotics or ADAS datasets (processing LIDAR/RADAR/Camera data)
- Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and database design principles
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD practices
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance requirements
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Proactive approach to identifying and solving data-related challenges
- Ability to ethically handle sensitive and confidential information with impartiality and professionalism.
Bonus points
- Familiarity with machine learning workflows and data preparation for AI/ML models
- Domain expertise in data quality related to computer vision & Autonomous vehicle ML systems
- Proficiency in C++ programming
Travel, Training and Safety Requirements
- Requires transportation to locations away from the site. Valid US Driver’s license with a safe driving record required. May travel occasionally to other states. May have the opportunity for international travel requiring the ability to obtain a passport and appropriate documents.
- Requires continuous education and training with a passion for knowledge in the field of study to maintain the highest level of knowledge, ingenuity, and creative thinking.
- Requires appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in areas identified through hazard assessment.
Physical Demands
- Ability to be flexible and may work overtime when project demands.
- Ability to work and collaborate across locations over different time zones.
