Meet the Team:

The Test Execution and Release Management department within Product Engineering and Release is responsible for system integration, verification and validation of entire product ecosystem to enable a safe, well tested, and fast product release.

What you’ll do:

The Director will own the vision for product validation and release processes, including the scope definition, implementation, and execution of software, firmware and hardware releases for our autonomous trucking platform. Successful candidates will possess strong communication skills, enabling transparent and visual progress tracking towards larger milestones. A robust background in large-scale, safety-critical systems and/or software development processes within complex development systems is essential to ensure compliance with company and engineering policies and procedures. Experience in the autonomous and/or automotive sectors is highly desirable.

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for enabling product releases by aligning existing verification and validation strategies with sound defect management and system performance tracking to enable company's goals and objectives.
  • Develop and communicate a clear roadmap for tooling and automation required for release management, outlining priorities, milestones, and success criteria.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize product validation, release management processes, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Identify potential risks, issues, and dependencies related to releases, and develop strategies to mitigate them. Monitor and analyze system performance metrics and driving performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Establish and maintain configuration management procedures and change control procedures to manage the impact of changes on release scope, schedule, and resources.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for communication with Safety teams, senior management, customers, partners, and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment across the organization. Collaborate with quality assurance and V&V teams to maintain high standards of software and hardware quality throughout the release lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies related to release management.
  • Build and lead a high-performing release management team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members, enabling their growth and success within the organization.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent. Master's degree in engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years of industry experience leading test programs or release management for complex integrated products with both software and hardware components.
  • Experience in interpreting and implementing safety standards and regulations into release management processes to ensure compliance and safety integrity levels (SIL) are met.
  • Experience in collaborating with Verification and validation teams to define and implement rigorous testing strategies, including unit testing, integration testing, system testing to ensure the safety and reliability of software and hardware releases. Experience with formal verification and validation processes
  • Experience working with Linux, modern build automation platforms, continuous integration (CI) systems. Strong experience in building tooling and automation frameworks for reporting metrics at scale.
  • Proficiency in change management processes and configuration control practices tailored to safety-critical products.
  • Experience orchestrating cross-team efforts to escalate issues and track them to resolution.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to facilitate discussions and decisions related to safety-critical considerations during the release process.
  • Knowledge of tool qualification processes including compilers, static analysis tools, and verification tools. Experience in evaluating, qualifying, and maintaining tools used in the release management process.
  • Able to travel to US and EU locations to facilitate and drive collaborative engagement, expected regular working hours while in the US are 8-5 EST.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in the autonomous and/or automotive sectors is highly desirable.
  • Master's degree in engineering preferred.
