Business Development Representative

Member of: Commercial Team

COMPANY

Agri-Neo’s mission is to help safely feed the world. Our vision to accomplish this is to set new food safety standards with our treatments for many foods. Our first product line is Neo-Pure, which leverages our proprietary technology of liquid formulas and systems that apply our solutions onto spices, seeds, herbs, and nuts in food processing facilities. These solutions control pathogens such as Salmonella and other quality indicator microorganisms (TPC, coliforms, etc.) to ensure the food is safe to eat and to prevent recalls. We have several customers throughout the globe (North America, Latin America, China, and Egypt), including large mainstream food processors that treat food continuously at high throughputs. We have also built a pipeline of products for pathogen and micro control that will be launching for other food categories, including fruits & vegetables (frozen, fresh) and powders. We are scaling up our products at more mainstream customer sites to ensure that we set new food safety and food quality standards to help safely feed the world.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Development Representative will be responsible for initiating conversations that open the door for deeper sales discussions. You will lead efforts to find prospective customers that will feed into the Neo-Pure sales pipeline primarily by attending trade shows, conferences, and industry events. You will also build a database of leads through cold calling, desktop research, and working with our existing customers to get referrals. You will be responsible for qualifying these leads and work closely with your sales managers to transition those that meet our buying criteria. You will also work closely with the sales manager to oversee the data integrity and reporting in our CRM system. Outside of sales-oriented activities, you will also work on key marketing activities such as coordinating trade show exhibitions, developing promotional materials, conducting market and industry research, and managing our social media profile (primarily website and LinkedIn).

Career path: This role is designed as a launchpad into a Sales Manager position with the opportunity to close international sales. You’ll gain exposure to global markets, high-value deals, and leadership development as you progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend trade shows, conferences, and industry events to find leads for Neo-Pure system sales. Expect to travel up to 50% of time.
  • Research, identify, and source sales opportunities through various methods including ZoomInfo, LinkedIn, cold calls, and existing customer referrals.
  • Qualify leads to engaging prospects to identify companies that meet buying criteria. Work closely with sales managers to transition qualified leads to enter sales pipeline.
  • Maintain and update lead records in the CRM system with accurate call tracking, notes, and KPI reporting.
  • Coordinate trade show exhibitions, including maintaining schedules, developing promotional materials, managing logistics and travel.
  • Manage company social media profile, specifically the website and LinkedIn.
  • Conduct market and industry research to inform segment prioritization, and identify relevant industry trends, competitor activities, and potential customer pain points and needs, to better tailor outreach efforts.
  • Work closely with the cross functional teams (sales, marketing, engineering, operations, and sciences) to refine strategies and improve customer interactions.
  • Participate in team meetings to share feedback and iterate on outreach techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business, Marketing, or related field is a plus.
  • 2-7 years of business development or sales experience for products or services that are technically multi-faceted.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, phone, and video presentations)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have a valid passport and driver’s license for international travel.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time.

Skills:

  • You possess the ability to work in a metrics-driven, time-sensitive, and high-volume environment.
  • You are experienced with organizing your efforts within a CRM system.
  • You’ve got a good feel for how to research, build, and expand new accounts by building a contact portfolio through efficient B2B prospecting strategies.
  • You are a storyteller - comfortable presenting to anyone, in any setting.
  • Your customer facing skills (written, verbal, and presentation) are top notch.
  • Highly self-motivated - you are goal oriented, persistent in obtaining a meeting with a prospect.
  • Endlessly curious - you love asking questions and learning.
  • Fearless attitude - proven track record of achieving measurable goals.
