REPORTS TO: Director of Finance

LOCATION: Virtual Office (Remote, Canada)

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:


As we continue to build our finance team, we are looking for an individual contributor to own our accounting operations. The ideal candidate is an ambitious, detail-oriented professional who’s enthusiastic about financial management and skilled in maintaining
accurate financial records. We need someone who will bring a strong set of operational abilities, experience in financial environments, a solid grasp of accounting best practices, and extensive knowledge of accounting software and tools.



The right individual must have impeccable organizational skills to manage the day-to-day operations of the finance department. This involves working with various financial tools, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and preparing financial reports. We’re a small team, so we’re looking for a self-starter who can make progress on tasks and goals without the need for micromanagement. Someone who can work with their manager, understand the strategy and goals, and execute plans to accomplish those goals.



This role offers a unique opportunity to be a key member of our finance team, helping to shape the financial health and strategy of our company. You will have direct input into financial planning, budgeting, and reporting, and will be instrumental in ensuring our financial operations run smoothly. You will not be confined to a narrow set of tasks but will be encouraged to bring your ideas to the table, work diligently, and solve problems proactively.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Accounting (70%):



  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are properly recorded



  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and payments



  • Reconcile bank statements and manage general ledger entries



  • Maintaining deferred revenue, prepaids, accruals, and depreciation worksheets



  • Prepare financial reports and assist with budgeting and forecasting



  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards



Administrative (30%):



  • Assist with tasks such as travel bookings and procurement



  • HR related tasks such as maintaining list of hardware assets, benefit management, etc.



  • Managing forms and documents for various projects: grant programs, template updates, etc.



  • Support with various administrative tasks as needed



SUCCESS CRITERIA FOR THIS ROLE:



  • Post Secondary credentials in Accounting, Finance, or a related field



  • Having or working towards a professional accounting designation is an asset



  • 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting coordinator, full-cycle accounting or a related field



  • Working GAAP knowledge



  • Experience with B2B or SaaS companies is a plus



  • Experience using QuickBooks Online (QBO), Microsoft Office Suite applications (i.e., MS Word and Excel), SharePoint, Customer Platforms (such as HubSpot, Maxio/Chargify, ChargeBee)



  • Experience with maintaining books, month-end closing, preparation of financial statements



  • Ability to maintain electronic records and files in an organized manner



  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects to ensure timelines are met



  • Strong communication skills with eagerness to learn and develop skills
