About the Role:

As the People & Culture Manager at ACTO, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting every stage of the employee lifecycle, thereby contributing to the organization’s strategic goals. This role involves managing all aspects of Human Resources, including full-cycle recruitment, employee relations, benefits management, compliance, performance management, and organizational development. Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer

Location: Remote Canada

Key Responsibilities:

Company Culture and Morale:

  • Enhance employee morale and engagement through regular initiatives and assessments using engagement surveys.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with leaders and employees to establish trust and a reputation as a professional and reliable HR leader, advocating for a positive culture and high morale.

HR Operations Management:

  • Draft HR policies and procedures while ensuring legal compliance
  • Maintain and update HR
  • policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the HRIS system (Collage) is the system of “truth.”
  • Responsible for completing annual SOC Audits for various HR controls.
  • Responsible for onboarding new employees, which includes working closely with IT for setup and conducting first-day orientation sessions for new hires.

Talent Acquisition & Talent Development:

  • Build a strong employer brand and hiring strategy; lead recruitment efforts and ensure diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is always top of mind.
  • Work with People Leaders on hiring needs and walk them through the recruitment framework.
  • Manage termination processes, which entails coaching leaders on proper protocols when necessary.
  • Implement and work with people leaders to build comprehensive onboarding, training, and development programs.
  • Build Campus Program to attach talents from various colleges and universities.

Performance Management:

  • Manage performance management processes.
  • Streamline HR forms and processes to support business goals.
  • Manage Performance Improvement Plans (PIP).

HR Advising & Employee Relations:

  • Provide counsel and guidance to employees and management for people related concerns; foster transparency and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Resolve complex employee issues; ensure compliance with HR laws and regulations.

Benefits Management:

  • Manage health and wellness programs including benefits, compensation, insurance, and leave policies.
  • Review and update benefits plans to ensure they meet employee needs and align with company goals.
  • Manage relationships with benefits providers, brokers, and third-party administrators (TPAs).
  • Educate employees about available benefits options and help troubleshoot issues.

Strategic Partnership:

  • Align HR strategy with business goals; manage change initiatives to improve efficiency and satisfaction.

Organizational Development:

  • Support succession planning and foster a culture of engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Map out competency frameworks and build career pathing for employees.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in HR, ideally in a generalist role
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices and labour laws in North America
  • Must have excellent communication skills - outstanding written communication skills, particularly in writing, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas and sensitive information.
  • Must have a strategic mindset capable of comprehending both strategic initiatives and operational functions.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic technology environment
  • Proficiency with HRIS and similar tools
  • Ability to work independently and have excellent work ethics

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Previous experience in a SaaS or tech company is highly desirable.
  • Experience in the healthcare and/or life sciences industry is desirable but not required
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is a plus
