About the Role:
Acerta Analytics Solutions is seeking a proactive and skilled Controls Engineer to support our customer, Dana Inc., at their Auburn Hills, Michigan facility. The selected candidate will be a full-time Acerta employee and serve as an embedded team member within Dana’s operations, working on a wide range of automation systems and control solutions critical to manufacturing success.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day technical support for all plant PLCs, SCADA systems, and related hardware/software.
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and document issues related to automation equipment, and train users as necessary.
- Recommend, architect, and develop PLC-based solutions to enhance manufacturing operations with a focus on end-to-end traceability.
- Design, engineer, and modify PLCs for a wide variety of production equipment; maintain accurate electrical schematics.
- Develop SCADA and HMI controls tailored to evolving production requirements.
- Develop machine vision systems and manage the integration of third-party equipment and peripherals.
- Generate clear, comprehensive documentation, including technical manuals and reports.
- Travel occasionally to supplier and sister facilities for commissioning, validation, and training.
Required Qualifications:
- BSEE from an accredited university or equivalent training and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience designing PLCs and implementing control system modifications.
- Demonstrated expertise in network systems, terminal servers, and automation integration.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Allen-Bradley PLCs
- Rockwell Software SQL
- Microsoft SQL database programming
- Visual Basic
- HMI software (e.g., FactoryTalk, WinCC)
- Familiarity with electric motor starters, motion controllers, VFDs/drives, disconnects, and switchgear.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of Manufacturing Processes
- Eagerness to learn and master LinePulse, with the goal of becoming a passionate advocate for the product.
