About the role:

We are searching for a UX/UI Designer to provide creative vision for our online learning ecosystem. In this role, you will be solving problems and interpreting user goals to provide innovative solutions, from rough concepts to final mockups. You will bounce ideas off and glean inspiration from our small but mighty team of
designers, while collaborating closely in a fun/casual environment with many development teams across a diverse range of products. A keen understanding of user research and data analytics are a valuable asset to better understand the motives of our users. We hope you will share your expertise among designers and product managers alike, pitching to stakeholders, backing up design decisions with articulate rationale, and adapt to offer pragmatic approaches to development. We are currently evolving our Learner Experience platform to be user-centric like never before, and we'll need great ideas and talent to bring the power of our
machine learning team to put users first. In addition to servicing scalable solutions to our Admin Experience, our Create platform for custom course content creation can use a trained eye to guide the development of a more seamless experience between products.

What you’ll do

• Collaborate with the product management team to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals, and experience.
• Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off, including site maps, workflows, wireframes, storyboards and polished mockups to effectively
  communicate feature interactions.
• Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design challenges.
• Present and defend designs at key milestone deliverables to peers and stakeholders.
• Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback to help develop realistic personas and practical use-cases that represent our clients’ needs.
• Establish design guidelines, best practices and standards to maintain high quality and consistency across all our products.
• Troubleshoot ad hoc experience issues with development teams.

What you’ll bring:

• Formal training in Interactive Arts and Technology, Digital/Interaction Design or equivalent
• 2+ years experience in User Experience, Design, Interaction or equivalent
• Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent tools
• Proficiency with collaborative/wireframing tools such as Miro, Invision or equivalent
• Proficiency with HTML/CSS and other web technologies
• Experience designing for web, mobile technology and business software
• Strong verbal/written communication skills to present/defend ideas
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
• Proficiency creating UX documentation and utilizing design systems, patterns and guidelines
• Access to an online portfolio showcasing your work

Nice to haves:

• Experience with eLearning tools or traditional education.
• Experience upholding WCAG Accessibility Standards.
• Proficiency with web technologies such as Javascript/ReactJS.
• Experience conducting user research, journey mapping, persona building, using interview techniques and data analytics.
• Sharp technical copywriting skills.
• Experience working in an agile/ SCRUM environment using JIRA or equivalent.
• Experience defining animation/micro interactions either in-application or creating. animation samples.
