As a part of our newly created CMC organization, you will support our new process development platform from the ground up, all while leveraging cutting-edge technologies. You will be part of a team with an audacious goal: to go from discovery to fill-finish in a year.

This role will support Technical Operations and provide quality control microbiology support for all the functional areas including process development, facilities & engineering, formulation development, MSAT and manufacturing teams. The position will include assisting other teams to help develop and stand up a GMP facility, including process design, method verification, contamination control strategy, risk analysis, facility and utilities qualification and SOP writing. An important aspect of this role would be analyzing data while incorporating scientific judgment and support generating technical / regulatory reports.

How you might spend your days

• Providing microbiology expertise to functional areas
• Supporting product (DS and DP), utilities and process monitoring in GMP manufacturing (integrating practical approaches for method qualification, method validation, verification and method changes)
• Supporting investigations through root-cause analysis providing SME input
• Keeping current with new developments in microbiology, quality control, drug development, and regulatory guidance through literature review, conference attendance, and professional activities
• Providing insight in contamination control strategies and participating in risk assessments for GMP manufacturing facilities
• Providing support in microbiology method verification and development, process and product aseptic control strategies (sterility assurance), facility and utilities qualification
• Commissioning of laboratory equipment including qualification, routine calibration and PMs ● Writing work instructions, standard operating procedures, method verification protocols and final quality reports
• Reviewing and approving microbiology data

Required qualifications and experience

• M.S and 4+, or BSc. with 5+ years of relevant work experience in GMP Quality Control environment (degree in microbiology, biology, or a related field)
• Experience with laboratory esystems such as Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), MODA or similar
• Superb oral and written communication skills, including presentation of microbiology data
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional teams
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills
• Demonstrated leadership skills

What we offer

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is $72,600 - $90,700 CAD annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We base our salary ranges on localized market data ensuring competitive compensation. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.
