Portfolio Risk & Data Analyst, Hedge Funds

We are currently looking for a Portfolio Risk & Data Analyst, Hedge Funds, who will be a key player in managing and analyzing the risk exposures of our hedge fund managed platform, QMAP. The successful candidate will have a clearly demonstrated passion for digital assets and cryptocurrency markets. With a strong background in the financial market industry, the candidate’s superb risk management techniques and advanced data analytics skills will be integral in the optimization of the portfolio.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Tailor comprehensive risk management strategies for a range of digital asset investment portfolios, ensuring alignment with the platform’s overall investment goals.
- Continuously assess and manage risks across various dimensions, including market, credit, liquidity, counterparty, and operational risks, with a focus on digital asset markets.
- Evaluate the impact of extreme market events on portfolio performance, with special attention to the unique volatility and market behavior of cryptocurrencies.
- Work closely with portfolio managers, investment operations, and fund operations teams to ensure seamless risk management integration.
- Deliver insightful and timely risk assessments to the 3iQ Hedge Fund Solutions Operating Committee and Risk Management Committee, including tailored reports on digital asset risk exposures.
- Employ big data, machine learning, and quantitative analysis techniques to assess portfolio performance, manage risk, and optimize asset allocation across various strategies, including traditional asset classes and digital assets.
- Create and refine quantitative models to evaluate performance, forecast risks, and simulate scenarios, leveraging both traditional and non-traditional data sources.
- Integrate data-driven insights into the investment process, providing recommendations that improve risk-adjusted returns
- Ensure robust data pipelines and high-quality data sets, facilitating efficient analysis and reporting.
- Provide analytics support for new investment strategies, product development, and market research.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field); preference for an advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) with a focus on digital assets or quantitative finance.
- CFA, FRM, or PRM desirable
- 3-5 years of experience in risk management, portfolio analytics, or a related field within hedge funds, asset management, or financial technology (FinTech) preferably an emphasis on digital assets.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and Excel.
- Experience with industry-standard risk management systems and software (e.g., Bloomberg, RiskMetrics, MATLAB).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to distill complex data into actionable insights.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a proactive approach to risk management and data analysis in the rapidly evolving crypto market.
- In-depth knowledge of cryptocurrency markets and blockchain technology is preferred.
- Ability to adapt traditional risk management techniques to the unique challenges and opportunities presented by digital assets.
