1QBit is looking for an expert in fault-tolerant quantum computing to work on theoretical and experimental aspects of fault-tolerance in emerging quantum devices. Our Hardware Innovation Lab (HIL) team is interested to hear from high caliber scientists who are excited to contribute to the various layers of the full stack of quantum computing. HIL collaborates with its hardware partners, employing its expertise in classical and quantum computing to develop technologies that will enable scalable and applicable quantum computing.
What You’ll Do
- Design and analyze architectures for fault-tolerant quantum computation
- Implement numerical experiments of quantum error correcting codes, noise models, error thresholds, and fault-tolerant quantum computation
- Perform simulations and benchmarking of fault-tolerant quantum computing schemes
- Be part of an R&D team with peers from unique and creative technical backgrounds, constantly learn through your work, and take part in drafting patents, authoring publications, and attending conferences
What You’ll Bring
Required
- A PhD focused on fault-tolerant quantum computation (computer science, physics or mathematics degree)
- Experience with fault tolerant implementation of non-clifford gates
- A strong research track record in error-correction and fault-tolerant quantum computing, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and top-tier conference presentations
- Basic understanding of quantum algorithms and common techniques therein (e.g., quantum phase estimation, quantum amplitude amplifications, quantum Fourier transformation)
- Experience with Unix/Linux and strong programming skills (e.g., Python, C/C++)
- Ability to work well with others towards a common goal
- Research independence: the ability to take responsibility and initiative to conduct your research as it is required in working towards the common goal
Preferred
- Familiarity with:
- Resource estimation and error analysis in quantum algorithms
- Computational complexity, design and asymptotic analysis of algorithms
- Optimization and machine learning algorithms
